Hurricane Ian destroyed everything in this former Army IT specialist’s home and completely ripped off the roof (shown above), while leaving two feet of standing water in its wake. She and her family used MOAA Crisis Relief grant funds to prepare for the birth of their child and replace their belongings.
Join The MOAA Foundation's 2023 Charity Dinner benefitting The MOAA Foundations' Crisis Relief efforts.
Military spouse, comedian, and social media influencer, Ashley Gutermuth, will act as our emcee for the evening. You'll also enjoy a wonderful three-course plated meal and networking with other supporters of the uniformed services community, all while learning about the Crisis Relief Fund and how you can make a positive impact in the lives of those who have served our country.
With generous support from our lead sponsor, HLP Integration, 100% of all donations will go toward The MOAA Foundation's Crisis Relief efforts. As a 501(c)(3), all donations to The MOAA Foundation are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
Why Your Support Matters
Our goal is to raise $1 million to endow The MOAA Foundation's Crisis Relief program and continue our great work.
Having recently overcome homelessness with his service dog, a former Army private lost everything he worked so hard to purchase after 24 inches of septic water flooded his brand-new apartment. He says asking for help was difficult but will “allow this PTSD veteran a chance to breathe.”
More than 12 million veterans without a VA disability rating and not covered by service relief societies have virtually no support when disaster strikes.
After fleeing a mandatory evacuation zone in Florida, this family of four traveled 1,200 miles to stay with relatives. Hurricane Ian caused water damage to their home and required this Air Force Reservist to rack up hundreds in unexpected expenses. “It is such a relief to know that The MOAA Foundation was there to help, and I am very grateful. I have been through a hurricane before, but this was the first time since I have had children. It was a level of stress that has only ever been matched on deployments.”
Our hope is your generous contribution will help us reach our goal to fund this program in perpetuity.
When Hurricane Ian left this enlisted Florida National Guard Soldier without work and caused severe damage to his property, he turned to The MOAA Foundation's Crisis Relief Fund, after hearing about the program from his chain of command. "I’m really happy to know that this organization helps people who are in need."
